Getting his start in business at General Electric, Mark Swain has been part of the business world for nearly two decades.  Leaving the company to pursue a teaching career, Swain now works with budding entrpreneurs and businessmen at Galway High School.

In his nine years of teaching at Galway, Swain has revolutionized business and commerce in the Galway community.  Seven major businesses have formed as part of his classes, including a school store, sports concession stand, school cafe, and online news site.  Swain's hands-on approach to learning builds stronger businesspeople, making Galway's business department famous in the Capitol Region.  The Village Press has been one of Swain's most successful ventures, rapidly expanding in past years due to three major print publications.  Swain hopes to continue expansion in coming years while producing a variety of publications for the Galway area.

A senior at Galway High School, Joe English has been an active member in the Business Department for four years.  Joe has taken a variety of classes from Mark Swain, the Galway business teacher, including business management, e-commerce, accounting, marketing, and a career exploration internship.

Writing the Village Press business plan and publishing Reflections of Galway, English has been a key player in our company's development.  As the Student CEO in 2012, English has expanded the Village Press by winning two sizable grants, creating the Photo Booth photography studio, and drastically improving the Village Press technology inventory.  English hopes to continue exploring photography and publishing throughout his college years. and broader business department during his senior year of high school.

The Village Press, established in 2009 by the Galway Central Business Department, provides the Capitol Region with quality publishing, printing, and photography services. Making professionalism its central goal, the VP staff uses the latest technology, extensive training, and personalized service to offer the best products at the best prices. With a history of success, the Village Press continues to grow by leaps and bounds.
